Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her stage surname Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP from the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she was able to begin gaining attention. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut songs online in the year 2012. She released five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet including her independently launched single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew at the time and wanted her to create Rihanna reference. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a track that which she co-wrote alongside Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In the month of October she debuted her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change in 2017 and also as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The singer also performed on the track Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas as her labelmates. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. First single, Whipped Cream of the album was released on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. Then, in November, she released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. And on the 13th of November she debuted two more singles entitled No One as well as Pdigree. She was featured with Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16, and then released the song on her own single to accompany her debut album. The track was accompanied by the release of a music video on February 20, 2019, which it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in the first week. In December 2018 she took part in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
